Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Hey everybody!

It seems like it's Charity week at Benfield Photography. For the past couple years, I've been volunteering with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a non-profit organization that offers photographic services to parents whose new born children will never leave the hospital. It's been difficult getting the word out to the area hospitals, but as of late, I have received multiple calls requesting our services.

So far in '09, I've already done 3 shoots, and have been fortunate to have support from other local photographers there with me on two of them (the first one I went solo). Another thing I'm happy about is the team of photographers in the NW Arkansas area that have joined and are willing to help!

We're not allowed to post images from the sessions on our websites or blogs (without some special paperwork), but I do have a video from that is used to recruit videos that I'd love to share with you. Don't play it if you don't want to, but particularly if you are a photographer in the area who would like to join, watch the video and then email me! I'd love to walk you through how to set up so you can help.

If you are a non-photographer but would like to help by donation, you can email me and I can help you with that too! For tons more information, check out the website at

Talk to you soon,

Here's a photo of Melinda shooting alongside the session. She is a really cool NW Arkansas children's photographer.

And here's the video I talked about in the blog post...

  1. What a great thing you are doing!!! It was such a sad video but something that needs to be out there more.
I can't imagine what it's like to take those pictures.....thanks for doing it.

  2. Hi, fellow [b] schooler here. That is a great thing you're doing by volunteering. I don't know how you do it, I would be a crying mess, I can't even watch the video with out crying.
