Have you seen the new Alice in Wonderland? We saw it opening night and fell in LOVE with Alice's dresses. They alone are reason to go buy the movie. So when Ellie wanted her 6th birthday party to be a Mad Hatter Tea Party, I KNEW we HAD to get a dress just like Alice's. The problem is, they don't sell them anywhere in the world.
Mimi, as her granddaughters call her, is Meredith's mom. She's good at most things in life and, among her multitude of skills is dressmaking. See how she recreated Alice's dress?!?!
Then, we wanted to have an over-the-top tea party table filled with a mixture of antique and whimsical tea party items.
She already had all these things (mostly). After I acquired and hung a million paper lanterns, my vision was complete.
We did a craft as the kiddos arrived, where they decorated their own hats, just as the Mad Hatter did for the Red Queen in the new movie. The super fun accordion hats were from Oriental Trading Company. They were 100% perfect.
After dinner, we finally got to dig in to Ellie's special cake made for her by Jennifer Matsubura at Shelby Lynn's Cake Shoppe in Springdale. She did Ellie's Harry Potter cake last year, and both were breathtaking! I love my super talented friends! Thanks Jennifer!!
Here are a few more party pics.
