It's been awhile since I've talked about engagement guestbooks, so for all those new Benfield Photography brides out there, or prospective Benfield Photography wedding couples, check it out.
Back in 2006 or 2007, we (with the help of a super creative bride) developed a new product in the world of wedding photography: the engagement guestbook.
The engagement guestbook is something that extends the rules of tradition - instead of the boring ol' book with the lines, we create a book with your engagement images, leaving space for your guests to sign... or even better, write well-wishes.
One of my favorite stories about engagement guestbooks is about Stephanie and Andrew, a Benfield Photography couple who left for a year-long mission trip right after their wedding. They were able to take their engagement guestbook with them to China for times when they were missing home. They had kinds words of encouragement they could pull out on a moment's notice. How cool, right?

Most of our couples get these now, and I always try to take an action shot of it being signed on the wedding day. Here is sweet little Luke, signing the engagement guestbook and Baxter and Allison's wedding:
