The buzz on twitter all day has been "Where were YOU when you heard..."
I worked for a newspaper, so I have a different story than most people. I got the call and had to immediately run out the door with a camera in hand to document local reaction to the crisis. Then, my newspaper editor and I had to look on the wire (where AP puts all the photos) for images to run with. We saw gruesome photos that would never run in a newspaper, saw the most touching and heartfelt photos, and some scary raw images as well. All in all, a pretty bad day, but nothing compared to NYers who were experiencing what I was seeing.
Today, 10 years later, I'm super proud the be an American, living in a country that picked itself up, dusted itself off, and held its head high in the midst of tragedy. Also today, I'm thankful for family. God has blessed me richly with the people he has put in my life. Two of my favorite people are Meredith (and my) nieces, Caroline and Margaret. Here are a couple images Mere shot of the girls recently. Too presh!
