Houmas House Engagement Portraits of Sarah and Stephen

Hey everybody!

When Mere and I spend 8 hours driving, we're secretly hoping it's all worth it. When we made the trip to Houmas House near Baton Rouge for Sarah and Stephen's engagement portraits... it was definitely worth it! They picked great outfits for the session, and Houmas House has SO many different backdrops to shoot! Here are some of our favorites!

Holly's Urban Belly Maternity Portraits

Hey everybody!

I'm IN LOVE with these Urban Belly portraits of Holly (and Tony)! Our special take on maternity portraits, Urban Belly Portraits, which we started in 2008, are great because it allows us to be true to our style (I think we've all seen those maternity portraits out there that are definitely not Benfield Photography style!). We even are able to shoot a little Benny Backlight with these! Holly and Tony are a beautiful couple, and I'm excited for their little bundle of joy to come soon!

2000th Blog Post!!

Hey everybody!

I can't believe I'm writing this. I've never read a 2000+ page book cover to cover. Yet, if you've been with me since the beginning, that's exactly what you've done! Today marks my 2000th blog post, and I couldn't be in more awe. I've shared my life (yes, even the personal stuff), my loves, my business, pretty much my everything on this blog.

Not a wedding goes by that someone doesn't come up to Meredith or me and say they read our blog - - let me just say... that ALWAYS makes my night, because it means that I'm not wasting my time updating this blog EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. So, thanks for speaking up, and for keeping up! We adore our readers!

I've said this before and I'll say it again: blogging every day is not easy. Some days, like the day Cece was born and Mere was not doing well, it's downright PAINFUL to remain committed to the blog. But it's on days like that which I feel are MOST important to share what's going on in our lives without our faithful readers. It's on days like those that I'm thankful for you: someone who is there for me in the best times and the worst times.

I learned long ago that sharing is the only way I wanted to live my life, and run my business. I'm pretty much an open book and plan on keeping it that way. I'm glad you have gotten to know me and the fam, and for those who have reached out to me in one way or another, I'm glad to know you as well! Relationships are what this world is all about, and if my blog helps build a few more, it served its purpose!

Many people asked how many days in a row I plan to blog. The answer is: I don't know. When there is something important enough to take my time away from my blogging for the day, I suppose. But if it hasn't happened yet (with all we've been through), it might not ever. I don't see it stopping in the near future, anyway. As long as you keep coming back to read, I'll work my hardest day after day to keep coming back to write.

Finally, I thank you. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.

Help Me Raise My 38 for Art Feeds!

Hey everybody!

You are no stranger to my love for Art Feeds. As an artist myself, I know the value of expressing myself through art, and the healing power it has. Art Feeds takes that same idea and implements into the classroom. For FREE! Yeah... schools and teachers don't have to pay anything for Art Feeds to come into their school! Did you know?

After the Joplin tornado, I saw kids by the HUNDREDS effected by what happened to their homes and lives. And just as quickly, I saw HUNDREDS of these precious children (my own 8-year-old Ellie included) embrace therapeutic art and creative education from the Art Feeds staff. I will forever be grateful for what they have done, are doing, and will continue to do in the lives of our sweet children!

And of course, I WANT TO HELP! I'm looking for 38 friends/family/clients/etc to donate to Art Feeds. I've set up my own link below - it literally takes 1 minute to give one dollar! Oh, and one dollar is all I'm asking! My goal is to get 38 separate donations. Don't YOU want to give? :)

Hey everybody!

I'm super excited to share Allison's southern bridal portraits with y'all! She has a such a sweet heart, and she's such a stunner... and I obviously love her perfect red hair! Meredith and I had a really fun afternoon photographing at the Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock where her husband, Aaron, shot on eagle on the 18th hole! Impressed!
