Elly and Philip's Fayetteville Engagement Portraits

Hey everybody!

When I say that Elly is a sweet soul, I don't want that to sound watered down. She is seriously the nicest, gentlest person I've met in years. She has a sweet demeanor and the way she and Philip interact is completely precious. Their Feb 2017 wedding is going to be one of my favorites, I already know (it's right before my birthday!). Oh, and I forgot to mention how great (and well-behaved their sweet dog, June, was for the photo shoot - I might just have to have another post tomorrow and show you the proof!). Here are some of my favorites from their Fayetteville engagement session:

Rosie and John's Pratt Place Wedding

Hey everybody!

Today I'm going to share all my favorite details, moments, and portraits from Rosie and John's wedding at Pratt Place Barn.  This couple has an incredible love story. Over the years, John has said that Rose was the one that got away.  And all these years later, he got her back and married her - in a fun and sweet ceremony. Here are some of their colorful wedding details...

Rosie wanted to shoot a couple portraits of the couple at Old Main, the place where they met.

My favorite moment of the ceremony was when Rosie turned to John's girls to deliver vows to them as well.  Tear jerker!

After, the kiddos were emotional. How sweet!

 Such a fun night!

Art Feeds: Raise Your 38

Hey everybody!

Each year I spend a few minutes fundraising for one of my favorite non-profits, Art Feeds. It's that time of year again to raise $38, which covers the costs of helping one student for the year. This year, Art Feeds has expanded into Arkansas, so I'll be supporting the local chapter in Springdale! Here's where you can help...
1) go to my donate page and pledge a dollar, 2 dollars, 38 dollars, or whatever!
2) this is even more important... create your OWN "raise my 38" page and do what you can to raise money for this incredible organization.

That's it!

Okay, BONUS time! If YOU create a page and raise YOUR 38, email me a link to your page and I'll enter you in a drawing to win a FREE 1 hour photo session! Yeah, for real! (that's like winning $500, y'all!) You have until April 2 at 11:59pm to enter. Have fun!

If you want to know more about my history with Art Feeds, particularly how they helped my daughter after the Joplin tornado, there are many posts here on my blog about it (just click on the Art Feeds label below, or search "Art Feeds" at the top of this browser. I have a really personal and deep connection with this organization and will always to my best to support them the best I can!

Support Local Music: Carter Hulsey

Hey everybody!

Here's a crazy stat for you: 250k plays (music streams) online only equates to about $450 in income. My buddy Carter Hulsey sent out an email this morning that had that stat in it and it made my mouth drop. I felt compelled to do something. For the past year I've been supporting him by giving $5 a month through a cool site that helps support musicians and I wanted to tell you about it in case. And here's something SUUUUPER cool... he's going to give you ALL his past and FUTURE music in exchange for your support! Now THAT'S cool.

Click here to support him by giving $5 a month.

Happy Easter!

Hey everybody!

I once had a friend (who moved away) who told me that Easter is her favorite holiday. More than Christmas.  She said people should have Easter parties and treat it as important (or even more) than Christmas, because everybody has a birthday, but only Jesus Christ has conquered death.

It is a remarkable thing that Jesus did, and it's what sets Him apart from everybody else. I'm thankful to love a God who is bigger than death... bigger than life.

I'm thankful to have a relationship with the Lord who covers all my sins with his mercy and grace.

Easter is cute, with all the bunnies and eggs and candy, but let's remember why we celebrate the MOST important holiday.

"He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying." Matthew 28:6

Fayetteville Love

Hey everybody!

I've seen recently that Fayetteville has topped many "best places to live" charts for all sorts of reasons. I'm not surprised. I fell in love with this town a long time ago.

When I moved here almost 10 years ago, I didn't know what a great move I was making. The reason I love this place, and the reason it tops my charts, is because of the people here.  I've met some of the most wonderful, caring, generous, creative, talented people here in Fayetteville. I've found friends who are able to lift me up when I'm down, friends who push me creatively, friends who believe in me even when it's hard to believe in myself.  To those (you know who you are!), I have to say a huge THANK YOU.  The Lord has placed you in my life for a reason and I'm so grateful.

Fayetteville has embraced both the business I have had here, and for that I'm so humbled.  Baller was an instant hit, and Benfield Photography has been such a lifelong blessing. Today, I hosted my 10th-ish Shoot Your Kids workshop, and every single one of them has sold out. This is truly a remarkable place to own your own business. Fayetteville, thank you thank you thank you.

Alys Beach Wedding of Travis and Ashley

Hey everybody!

I don't even know how to begin this post. Ashley and Travis were set to get married this coming summer here in Arkansas, and I got a crazy text from her last week saying they decided they wanted to elope in Alys Beach and wanted me to fly down to Florida and shoot their ceremony on the famous Highway 30A wedding venue. I jumped at the chance - I'd never been to Alys Beach or Rosemary Beach (I shot my brother's wedding near there years ago), and you know how I love traveling to new places! Today I'm going to share a few of my favorite portraits taken on Alys Beach, followed by the wedding ceremony tomorrow. I'm already ready to head back to 30A for another wedding, y'all!

Alys Beach Bridal Portraits of Ashley

Hey everybody!

I love being able to photograph bridal portraits in new locations. Bridal portraits at Alys Beach is just about the best location a bride could ask for. Clean white lines surrounded me - since we were doing the wedding at the beach, I wanted to create something different and special for the bridal portraits.  The light, the bright white, and the gorgeous bride were enough to make this not even seem like work.  Check out some of my favorite bridals...
